Tension increases...

Even within families, the more number of people staying together, the higher the possibility of tension increasing.
A daughter-in-law will not like her mother-in-law or father-in-law. Hence, it is always advisable never to sell off your flat and stay with your children. No matter how dear and close your children may appear to you, there is always the possibility their spouse might influence them enough to chuck you aside.
It is such a situation that I have encountered today, when a couple asked me to assist them in getting a rental flat. The couple has no CPF savings, and has no income at all. I have asked the husband how he would get the money to rent a flat if he was given the option, and he said his son would give him.
Though I have always have faith in the human race, and the indomitable human spirit, it is the encounter of such cases that gives me pause.
