Estimated Hard Disk failure

I have a couple of hard disks on my system. One of the hard disks has reported that it is estimated to fail on 15 Mar 2004.

Hopefully, the estimation is correct, as I'll not be replacing it until the next few days.

hey, im just curious what prog do u use to detect this kind of hardware failure?

and also, hope u dont mind, im gonna put the bart's pic on my site eh.

I'm using a SMART monitor.

SMART = Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology

Specifically, I use SMART IDE Guardian.

a cool program. compiled the smartapp.exe from ms, works fine. now im gonna dl siguardian. see how it goes. :) thx for the bart pic :)

Caleb, well, it's estimated anyway.
So, if it happens before or after 15 Mar,
you'll give me $10? ;)

Why bet so big? Bill Gates bet $1 with Warren Buffet whenever they bet on anything.

We could meet up for coffee no matter who wins, the loser treats the coffee. How's that?

Anyway, I'll be buying a new hard disk within the next 2 days.

I think I bought my hard disk in Jan 2001. So, it's about 3 years 1 month. Quite reasonable life span, don't you think?
