I just realized a few minutes ago that I've totally squandered an opportunity to experience Milton Erickson's method yesterday.

The nurse was upset that she didn't get admission into a particular course in WDA's SPUR program and she cried. I quickly took out a pack of tissues from my bag (appropriately entitled "What will you defend?") and attended to her.

I then closed the session normally. What I should have done instead is use Erickson's method. I should have said, "I can see you already have the desire to learn. There are things that you have no interests to learn, and there are things you have interests to learn. You'll discover that as you go about your daily work starting tomorrow, you'll find that there are a lot of things you've never noticed before, that you're noticing..." Kinda sublimally open her eyes to new experiences and new lessons.

Sigh... there's always another day though.
