A wave of mycoplasmic-induced infection has hit the Lion City.

The mycoplasmic based infection is characterised by the gradual onset of a dry cough leading to an eventual painful cough with phlegm, fever, muscle ache, fatigue, with the cough persisting up to a duration of 2 weeks.

The mycoplasma parasite is community-based and can survive outside the human body. Of over 100 species of the mycoplasma parasite, 15 species can thrive within the human body.

Last Friday, a commuter on the SMRT and SBS Transit was seen with a face mask, and is suspected to be one of the victims of the mycoplasma parasite infection.
