A couple separated in 197x, by not staying together in the apartment they bought together.
Almost 2 decades later, they decided to get divorced. The guy then remarried, and together with his new wife and two children, bought a new apartment. When he was buying the new apartment, he informed the management that he's already divorced (so that his name could be struck off the ownership of the apartment he had with his ex-wie) and he was told to produced both his marriage certificate, and divorce certificate, within a three month period. He did so within the stated period.
Almost two years later, due to certain rules, regulations and restrictions, the guy was issued a notice, asking him to vacate his previous apartment and to made good an outstanding payment.
Problem 1: He's already divorced, but the previous apartment still had him listed as the owner.
Problem 2: He's left the apartment more than 25 years ago, but still, he's got to made good an outstanding payment, which was only a few months old.
Lesson learnt: When you're getting divorced, make sure your assets and liabilities are in order, and all accounted for. When in doubt, make sure that the management gives you everything in black and white.
