Does anyone remember what the material in the “bad” police Terminator in T2 was named? Polymimetic metal, or polymimetic liquid-metal, right?
Well, it seems like the foundation for building a polymimetic metal is coming together. Remember what happened in T2? The police Terminator gets torned apart, but managed to restore back to it's original shape.
Well, look at what we have here, reported in Popular Science. The material, is known as “Metal Rubber”.
Metal Rubber is a compound that can be stretched, burned, twisted, etc, and still retains it's shape. Furthermore, it is a conductive material. It's a product of nanotechnology, and it's built molecule by molecule.
Interesting, isn't it?
