My brother came and picked me up yesterday at around 1pm. This was because I needed to get a monitor for my beloved.
We spent considerable time at Sim Lim Square, for about 2 hours, as I fretted over what and which monitor to buy. There was a bewildering array of monitors from many companies. For example, Philips had many LCD monitors of the same size, yet, different price. I couldn't even tell whether one monitor is better than the other.
Eventually, I bought a Philips 15” LCD monitor, which costs $569. For those of you who visit Sim Lim Square once in a while, you should be informed that many of the SLS shops are owned by the same person, even if the shop had a different name. I had a cousin who once worked there, and he said so.
Just discovered today that the feedback notification for this site wasn't working, because I had removed that email address from my email server, as some program was sending viruses to that address. I had narrowed down who would be the likely suspect since I had only used that email address to 2 or 3 persons, but I wouldn't be calling / emailing hir (him/her) up to tell hir so.
And why I discovered the feedback notification wasn't working was thanks to a sod who posted a feedback saying my poem about “Ode to my brother” sucks. If it sucked, so what? I'm not a professional poet, and I never claimed to be one. I wrote poems way back between 1996 to 1998 because I had too much free time then. In fact, I created a web site around that time, named “Ramblings from an unstable mind”, but of course, I had since renamed that web site.
I have occasionally followed Caleb's blogs, and he shifted it to a new site recently. And thanks to a particular entry, I have discovered that my blog writings is known as the “style of the school of gonzo”, since I have occasionally mixed fiction into my writings, like this recent entry on Sam.
As for my Movie CMS, between yesterday and 3am today, I have added several features. Genre, movies, reviews and user management were some of the added features. Though not entirely completed, it is now working. I have created several accounts, and one of the username / password is guest, guest. All my blog readers are welcomed to test it out. One of the things I have worked on to ensure that database security would never be breached is to hash the passwords. So, even if eventually, the client wanted to host it elsewhere, no one would be able to figure out what passwords are being used, since, instead of storing the actual passwords, I've stored a MD5 hash of the password. The other security feature I have incorporated is to ensure that users of the CMS system can never inject SQL code arbitrarily into the system. In my consultation with other companies, I have seen developers not coding with a criminal, or hacker mind, and frequently, hackers from other countries were able to mutilate the websites, or using SQL code injection, through command concatenation, inject a command such as “'criteria'; DELETE * FROM tablename”, where 'criteria' is a criteria for selection of some data, hence, thoroughly destroying the database storage of the system.
Finally, to end this blog entry, 1 day (est) left to 17GB HDD failure.
