Troubled waters...

I wanted to rebuild the “news” portion of my business website to be dynamic, instead of static, and I spent almost the entire day yesterday trying to figure out how to do it the .NET way. I could have used any version of Delphi from 5 to 7 and be done in a few minutes. Instead, I was trying to design it in such a way that it is WYSIWYG, using the web browser.

I had acquired C#Builder Architect nearly 4 months back for my business, and I alternated between using Delphi for .NET Architect and C#Builder Architect, to no avail. Until now, I'm no closer to entering news entries. However, I've felt that this is a good training for me.

My brother reached my place around 6pm, and together, we went on our way to Buckaroo's, located at 12B Andrew Ave. From various sources, it turned out to be located at Sembawang Park, as always, my brother had trouble, and I had trouble too, and we reached there slightly around 6.40pm. I had been quite familiar with Sembawang Park many years ago, when I was staying around there, and in some evenings, I would go there for a stroll by myself. I also remembered having dinner at the Chinese restaurant there, having coffee at the bus terminal there. In fact, I had once met my classmate Margaret, who was there taking wedding photo shots with her husband. That would be at least between 4 to 6 years back already.

I had a small beef rib, and he, medium done tenderloin steak. We each also had hot coffee and mushroom soup. This came to a total of $80.20. It came as a surprise to me that there was no 10% restaurant charge, 5% GST, and 1% cess.

The beef rib was nothing to crow about, though the ambience is. I think Tony Roma's might be better with their beef ribs, and onion soup.

On the way back, my brother told me that he still had the key to the Sembawang flat, which surprised me, since, it had been about 6 years since I left that particular flat.

During dinner, I discussed with my brother about setting up a milkshake stall, calculating that in order to make a living, I merely had to sell about 100 cups per day, with the assumption that each cup costs $2, for 3000 cups a month, and rental costs $2000 monthly.

I reached home around 9.20pm, and continued my research in using .NET and certain DBWeb* components, which had no documentation, and examples anywhere on the Internet, hence, logically explaining the difficulty I had in trying to reverse engineer it's runtime logic. For two products which cost almost US$8000, I am very frustrated at times that they came with little documentation, though I understand why it came with little documentation.
