A theory on engaging openness and debate
frove

Much has been written about
a Govt agency and a student blog
, and the Govt's call to more debate.
I've recently developed a theory. Few months back,
an aggregated blog known as Tomorrow
was set up,
like what I did
sometime ago.
However, guess what? Tomorrow is actually set up by the
assistant director of enabling technologies, IDA, James Seng
.
How do I know? Check out
Singapore's NIC (Network Information Centre)
, and enter "tomorrow.sg" into the "Online Whois" field, click Search, and you have your answer.
Who knows, one day, someone authoritative might just come out and say that the Govt is part of the blog collective of Singapore.
To paraphrase the
Christian News Service
which paraphrase the Borg,
"This is the Borg Collective," they said menacingly. "Prepare to be assimilated. We will add your biological and technological distinctives to our own. You will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
And already, there are editors who writes for Tomorrow, servicing it, much like the way the Borg collective was serviced.
Resistance is futile!

So are you saying that Tomorrow is government controlled because the guy starting it is a civil servant that works in IDA? Are non-pro government blog entries censored or slammed or excluded? Just curious about how you came to your conclusion.

I recommend you read this:
http://james.seng.sg/archives/2005/05/09/why_i_do_tomorrow.html
perhaps it will help you answer your questions before you speculate. Always the mark of a good writer is to get to the source and ask.

mystery tan lines: perhaps you should look at the sgnic record, if you haven't. ;o)

yes I have, it is under james' name. It's right here on your page.
What I dont get a clear idea of is what exactly you are saying your theory is. You mentioned you have a theory- You point out that tomorrow is under james name and that he is a staff of IDA or maybe even a big shot in IDA.
And I am trying to understand if you are saying that IDA will claim credit later or that IDA is controlling tomorrow or what. Sorry, maybe you can say I am dense but please explain your theory in layman terms.
So for example, when you say "Who knows, one day, someone authoritative might just come out and say that the Govt is part of the blog collective of Singapore." Do you mean one day the Govt will claim credit OR that the government will control tomorrow OR that it IS govt controlled already.
And furthermore, is this speculation based solely on the fact that james' name is on the registration or there is more stuff that i dont know about and that you havent elaborated on? Please help me understand. Its a bit too general and vague what you are saying.

Enlightenment depends on oneself. I cannot help you attain enlightenment.
If you've really visited the page, the answer is staring straight at your face.
Also, read Justina's article at
http://singaporewatch.juznuts.com/2005/04/28/vagueness-my-friend-the-solution-is/
.
I'm sorry I can't help you if you're dense.

Oh no, you mean James Seng is working for A*Star too? Oh no. You better be careful what you say then.

Hey I got an idea. Since you know internet stuff like this SGnic thing, why dont you start another thing like tomorrow.sg. Then just get your friends to join in and contribute.
That way, you can also do something about the situation since you know internet and then you dont need to depend on tomorrow.sg since you found out that it belongs to the governemt right? you can start a private one lor. I heard you can book the internet name overseas so they cannot sue you in singapore or something like dat.
