Some time last year, it was noticed that my urine attracted ants.

This year in late Aug, around 27-28 Aug, I decided to get checked up. And so, they tested my blood that day, and also a week later, and I was found to have 16.8 mmol/L for the Glucose Fasting, POCT test  and 12.6 mmol/L for the Glycated Hb, R test. These values were extremely high.

For the Glucose Fasting, POCT test, a normal person is supposed to have 3.0 - 6.0 mmol/L. For the Glycated Hb, R (which is the glucose encountered by the red blood cells during their 3-month lifespan), the ideal range is supposed to be between 4.5 - 6.4 mmol/L. I was diagnosed to be a diabetes patient, and I was prescribed diabetes medicines, metformin and glipizide. I knew what had happened. I was drinking too much sugary drinks.

For about 2 years, starting from Jan 2015, I had been drinking 2-3 cans of Wong's Coco 520ml every day.

If you refer to the sugar content listed for Wong's Coco, each can had 18g of sugar. The normal person is supposed to consume less than 24g-32g (depending on whether you're a male or female) of sugar every day. Assuming I consumed 2 cans, that's 36g. If I had consumed 3 cans a day, that's 54g of sugar minimum, not counting other food I would eat.

After being diagnosed, I took immediate action. Nearly every day, I would devote at least 12 minutes to HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercise. I had done this for about 48 non-consecuive days before I saw the doctor again. The new results for Glucose Fasting, POCT was 7.8 mmol/L, and 5.3 mmol/L for Glycated Hb, R.  I was cured of diabetes!

Diabetes (type 2) is a dietary disease.  You contract it when you consume too much sugar. In order to get cured, monitor and reduce the consumption of sugar, and do some exercise.

I'm happy that i went to see a doctor, and took nearly immediate remedial action.
