An evening of enjoyment

Last night, after work, I was looking at the clock, and thought I'll be bored going home, as I had been having a stiff and sore neck for nearly the entire week. Suddenly, I realized it was a Friday and thought I'll go to the Esplanade and listen to the symphony. So, after checking that there's indeed a symphony orchestra playing, I walked over to the Esplanade and bought a ticket, taking the seat nearer to the stage, as it's lower, and I could raise my head, hence providing relief to my stiff and sore neck. When asked if I had decided which category I wanted, I said money is not an issue, as long as it's a good seat. It's times like this that I'm gratified to have a good job paying a good salary.

I wanted to have just sashimi for dinner, and unfortunately, Ichiban Boshi had a long queue. I was so disappointed, and walked around until I came upon Tomo Izakaya and had a dinner of sashimi with warm green tea. I was anxious that I not miss the concert, so when having nearly finished my dinner, I asked for the bill and paid it. I got into the concert hall just in time, much to my relief.

While waiting for the concert to start, I read the programme, and noticed the story of Clara Wieck and Robert Schumann. According to the programme, Clara's father opposed the marriage because Robert was then nearly 10 years older than Clara, which reminded me of a conversation earlier in the day about a newspaper story on a 23-year-old guy who is in a relationship with a 43-year-old divorcee despite his parent's objections.

There was a 20-minute intermission, and I took the opportunity to treat myself to 3 scoops of ice-cream at the nearby Häagen-Dazs joint, a luxury I've seldom given myself.

After the concert, I went back to the office to retrieve my headphones and placed the jacket back on my seat. As I had a stiff neck, I went for a neck massage and proceeded home after that.
