Natural Vision Improvement

Back in 1996 or 1997,  my eyesight had been deteriorating for quite a while. My degrees were 275 and 225 respectively, with some astigmatism. I decided to do something about it. Hence, I took off my spectacles one day, and stopped wearing it.

For a few weeks, I was fumbling around, and things were a blur, but it appeared that my eyesight started to improve. I started to see things in a clearer way.  So, I decided to stop wearing spectacles entirely. About half a year after I stopped wearing spectacles, I went to see an optometrist (There's a difference between an optician and optometrist, which I learnt in secondary school). The optometrist confirmed my suspicion that my eyesight had improved and charged me $30, if I remember correctly (IIRC), for consultation fees, claiming that if I ordered a pair of spectacles from them, the consultation fees can be discounted off the price of the spectacles.

Then, one day in 1998, I was reading the newspapers when I came across an advertisement by Janet Goodrich, about a Natural Vision Improvement course. Naturally, I didn't attend it, the reason being: the course was for 5 days, full time, and it costs over a thousand dollars.

However, the advertisement did mention that Janet Goodrich is the author of a book titled Natural Vision Improvement. After searching Singapore, at Sunny's (located at Far East Plaza) and various other book store, I couldn't find it. So I took the search to the Internet, and found the book at Amazon.

And hence, I ordered two copies from Amazon, one for my sister, and one for myself. In addition, I also ordered Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses. These two books, still, cannot be found in Singapore.

Janet Goodrich also authored several other books on Natural Vision: Perfect Sight the Natural Way, How to Improve Your Child's Eyesight Naturally: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide and Help Your Child to Perfect Eyesight Without Glasses.

One of the interesting ideas that Janet Goodrich put across in the book was that: if spectacles were meant to improve your eyesight, then, after wearing it for a while, you would no longer need it. The reason why opticians prescribed spectacles instead of giving advice on how to improve your eyesight, was that it kept them in business. Imagine, if your eyesight improves, they would have lost a customer.

In my opinion, spectacles are akin to your eyes what walking sticks are to old man's legs. It helps you to see, and corrects your eyesight, but it does not improve your eyesight. The eyes and the muscles manipulating the eyeballs are like any other muscles of your body. They need exercise in order to strengthen it. If the muscles are strengthened, then they can do the job better.

The secret to better vision is not through artificial but natural means. Needless to say, these days, my eyesight had deteriorated again, due to my constant usage of the computer and looking at the monitor.

It's time for me to practise the exercises described in the Natural Vision Improvement book again.

  • and here I was thinking the genepool in singapore had the eyesight thing all screwed up for good.

    haha.
  • Thank god for me then? ;)
  • Dodgy stuff. What is energy flow! Qigong? I don't need such crap. One thing for sure... the best way to throw away your glasses permanently is to go for Lasik like me. Inexpensive and easy.
  • Is the Janet Goodrich method the same as the <a href="http://www.central-fixation.com/batesmethod.shtml">Bates Method</a>?

How long does it take to improve ones eyesight with these methods?
  • The link above should've been:

  • It depends. Results can be seen from within 1 week to 3 months. These two books are pretty cheap.

I suggest you get these books and exercise your eyes.
