Today, I've heard two issues. One was regarding the censorship of motorvehicle magazines sent to a prison. A person had sent a copy of the magazines: Hypertune and Hotstuff respectively to his relative for him to enjoy. When the person received the magazines back, he was dismayed to find out that there were pages having been ripped / cut out of the magazines. He was sad, as he had bought the magazines for his relative to enjoy. I felt for him and empathized with him. If I had bought two magazines and had pages ripped / cut out of them, I would be sad too.
The other issue was regarding loan sharks. A resident had bought an existing HDB flat and was feeling helpless, as there were loan sharks splashing paints to the flat. They wanted to know what could be done, and if HDB could issue a letter of ownership that they could paste outside the unit, hoping that the loan sharks would be logical and wouldn't come to harrass them after that. They had approached the police and asked for the police to patrol their area, but was told that the police couldn't do anything. As I sat there and listened, I was wondering, would I feel safe and outraged if I were to hear this from the police?
I wonder what could be done for them.
