I was walking my way to the MRT when I was approached by a self-proclaimed ex-convict who began his sales pitch with "Sir, do you believe in giving prisoners second chances?". To that, I said yes, and allowed him to begin his sales pitch as I recalled  my previous experience on trust.

I then saw that the product he was pitching is a laser pen, which I had no need for. I summarily dismissed myself and went on my way. Giving him my pity wouldn't work.

Merchants need to sell their stuff based on demand and not on pity.
