My RSS Reader: Getting ready for distribution and feedback

I've been getting ready for “My RSS Reader” to be the next dominant RSS reader. To that end, I've been scouting around for new blogs, so that I can categorize them. I believe I have over 3000 blogs listed.

In addition, I've set up 2 new email accounts. The first email account is set up so that users can send feedback from the program itself.

The second email account is set up so that users who sent an email there will receive a copy of “My RSS Reader”, together with usage and installation instructions.

To get a current copy, you can either send an email to getrss at chuacw.hn.org or download here.

In addition to adding the feature to allow users to provide feedback from the program itself, several minor issues were fixed in the RDF, Atom and RSS 2.0 parser recently.

Also, if posts do not contain authoring information, but the feed itself does, the feed's authoring information would be used when displaying posts.

When I run the program, I get a runtime error 217. I'm on W2k if that helps.

Robert,

I mentioned in another article that source will be available on CodeCentral in the future.

Peter,

How did the error occur? Please provide more detail. Also, what numerical time zone are you in, in terms of GMT?

This comes up when I double-click the exe:

---------------------------
MyRSSReader.exe - Application error
---------------------------
Unknown exception (0x0eedfade) at address 0x7988e592.
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

...and then:

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
Runtime error 217 at 00409162
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

The app terminates after that, never showing the main form.
